Welcome and thank you for your interest in our Painted Desert Akitas! We are located near the Petrified Forest National Park in Northern Arizona. We are Chris and Beth Spears; we are ethical breeders of Beautiful American Akitas. All our Akitas are registered with AKC. At Painted Desert Akitas our Akitas are part of our family, we do not run a kennel or a store front. We are not a “puppy mill”, we are a family with a passion for the breed and strive to improve its excellence.
At Painted Desert Akitas, we strive to produce the highest quality puppies in health and appearance. All our Akitas are thoroughly health tested yearly and before every breeding. We keep our Akitas up to date on vaccinations, deworming and flea and tick prevention. Their health and disposition are our ultimate goal. We raise our puppies with their mother, they ween at their own pace and are socialized daily by our family and personal friends that love to snuggle puppies. We ALL love having puppies. Our puppies are first raised on their mother’s milk, then at around 4 weeks old they start their transition to puppy kibble. We feed Victor Hi Pro Plus, an all stage food, to our puppies and adult dogs. All our puppies ween naturally, they are not taken away from their mother until 8 weeks of age. We keep our puppies for 8-10 weeks. Our puppies go to their furever home with a specialized care package with items specially chosen by our family. Every single item in this specialized care package is intended to make the transition to the puppy’s furever home as smooth as possible.
